Exotic Dancer Attacked by a Customer...

by Verona

I am an exotic dancer and a customer 5 times my size attacked me causing both physical and emotional damage. I wanted to know if the club is liable for my doctor's bills and my pain and suffering? Would I even have a case worth pursuing? Thanks.

ANSWER for "Exotic Dancer Attacked by a Customer...":

Verona (Charlotte, NC, USA):

You might have a case if you incurred medical bills and suffered medically verifiable injuries. This means you will have needed to go to a local medical clinic or hospital emergency room and been diagnosed with either soft tissue injuries or the more serious types of broken bones, herniated or bulging disks, or organ damage.

From the facts you present it appears you may have suffered some soft tissue injuries. Those injuries may have been manifested in sore joints, bruised bones, lacerations, cuts and bruises.

Suing the club for your injuries may or may not be successful. It will depend on whether or not there were previous complaints from other dancers or bar employees who may have been injured. If there were previous complaints and the bar management or ownership failed to take precautionary action to protect the employees you may have a case.

If in the alternative the bar owners and management took all reasonable action to protect its dancers, then you may have a more difficult time prevailing in a legal claim.

The above is general information. Laws change frequently, and across jurisdictions. You should get a personalized case evaluation from an attorney licensed in your state. Find a local attorney to give you a free case review here, or call (888) 647-2490.

Best of luck,
