I was deplaning at the airport in Nevada and someone or some people pushed into me. I hit the side of the ramp and fell and hurt my knee severely (due to the side of the ramp having about a 6 inch dip), which caused my fall . The airport would not accept responsibility for my injury.
I consulted one attorney who said it was considered a public place and I could only sue the person or people who caused the fall. Is this true? I am going to have quite a few medical bills due to this and I can't walk at the moment without crutches.

ANSWER for "Pushed While Deplaning at the Airport...":
Jan (Las Vegas):
If you are already represented by an attorney you should heed her advice and counsel. If you are not represented by counsel we can make the following observation...
The attorney is probably correct. From the facts you present the airport wasn't negligent in any manner. Your fall and resulting injury was a direct and proximate fault of the person or persons who pushed you.
Even if you were able to identify the person or persons who pushed you, there is every chance they didn't do it purposely. Boarding and deplaning is usually a race to the finish line. People want to get out of the plane and walk up the jet-way as fast as they can.
Your injury appears to be accidental. Accidents happen all the time. Without proof of negligence or willful, reckless or malicious action by the airport or those who may have pushed you, any chance of prevailing in a legal action will be minimal.
The above is general information. Laws change frequently, and across jurisdictions. You should get a personalized case evaluation from an attorney licensed in your state. Find a local attorney to give you a free case review here, or call (888) 647-2490.
