Saturday night I was riding the metro from Branch Ave into the city, when a large group of kids (15-20 kids, aged 10-17) got on the train and started going crazy. They were jumping around and tearing posters off the walls.
Then they turned on me. I was beaten unconscious and robbed. I had to spend the night in the hospital and get stitches. I now have intense headaches and neck pain.
I’m wondering if I can sue the MTA over this? Do I have any recourse to help pay my medical bills? Thanks.

You certainly have the basis of a cause of action against the MTA. To determine how liable the MTA may be several issues will have to be addressed…
-The first is the degree of security the MTA afforded it’s passengers.
-The second is the prior notice the MTA had about other and previous acts of violence perpetrated against passengers.
-The third will be the MTA’s responses to prior acts of violence.
There may be additional factors to be relied upon, but the above are the basics.
Contact a personal injury attorney. Depending upon who owns and manages the MTA, you may have to file a “Tort Claim”. Doing so is the method of notice injured persons seeking compensation must use to pursue a legal claim against a government entity.
You can contact the MTA yourself to start the process, or contact a personal injury attorney. Either way, if the municipality in which you live and rode the train requires Tort Claim notice, you will have to request the form from the MTA.

I had entered the Baltimore MTA subway station on Charles st downtown. I proceeded to the subway. I looked behind me and I noticed a man there that came up on my left side and pulled out a knife. I grabbed him and began to struggle with him on the escalator to get the knife from him. He then stabbed me and once at the bottom of the escalator I fought with him.
As I flipped him over and began to get up I ran to the turnstyle and the bubble where there was two MTA women who later saw me bleeding. They gave me several paper towels to apply to my bleeding. There were cameras that could see the whole thing. Yet I don’t understand why no one saw me getting stabbed.
