Could an Anesthesiologist Cause a Bulging Disc?

Submitted By: Angel (Newton, MS)

I was involved in a car accident about a year and a half ago. I had back pain after the accident. I was about two months pregnant at the time. During the pregnancy the back pain wasn’t severe.

I had a spinal block related to a c-section. After I had the c-section and was discharged, I started having severe back pain that extended from my lower back down to my lower leg area. I was then diagnosed with two bulging discs.

Is there any way the anesthesiologist could have caused these bulging discs? When performing the spinal block, the car accident wasn’t severe enough to have caused the bulging dis.

Dear Angel,

It is virtually impossible for us to know if your anesthesiologist’s actions resulted in your bulging disks. You must first have some medical evidence to support your claim.

It would be a good idea to seek the advice of your primary physician. She will be in a position to run tests and help determine the extent of your injuries, and whether those injuries could be a result of your anesthesiologist’s negligence. Once a determination has been made you can decide either to request a settlement or file a lawsuit against her.

The above is general information. Laws change frequently, and across jurisdictions. You should get a personalized case evaluation from a licensed attorney. Find a local attorney to give you a free case review here , or call (888) 647-2490.

Best of luck,
