What Should I do to Settle this Two Car Collision Case?
I was driving west on a 4 lane road (2 each way). There was a truck with a snow blade on the front sticking out. The driver turned to the left to miss the blade and ran into my car, hitting the left front of my car and the left rear of hers. I have some right hip and right shoulder pain.
In the statement the driver of the car admitted she hit me and it was her fault. Her insurance also said she was at fault and has paid for the car repairs of $2,800. They have started to pay for my medical and have offered me $500 to settle, but I think that's too low. That hardly pays for my gas going to town for physical therapy twice a week!
I just need some advice, thanks.

ANSWER for "What Should I do to Settle this Two Car Collision Case?":
I would have to agree that $500.00 seems low considering that the property damage is $2800.00. You should know however, that the value of a personal injury case is directly related to your medical bills.
If the bills were low (regardless of the property damage), then the settlement offered will be low as well. As a rule of thumb, you should be able to settle a case in the range of 2-3 times your medical bills. This is a "general" rule, but it gives some insight into what the settlement should look like rather than just shooting across the board.
The above is general information. Laws change frequently, and across jurisdictions. You should get a personalized case evaluation from an attorney licensed in your state. Find a local attorney to give you a free case review here, or call (888) 647-2490.
