Workers Comp Information Needed…

Submitted By: Twyla (Wake Forest, NC)

I need some workers comp information for an injury I suffered at work. I was washing dishes at work and I did not realize there were knives in the bottom of the sink. I was cut. I did not receive an incident report nor did my manager send me for a drug test.

My manager clearly stated to me that I only have 45 minutes left to work. The next day I went to the Emergency Room for pain in my finger and they gave me a tetanus shot. Am I entitled to worker’s comp payments for this?

Answer

Dear Twyla,

Getting a Tetanus shot was an excellent idea. If you are fortunate to have suffered only a cut and are able to work, there would not appear to be sufficient grounds for a Workers Compensation Claim.

Hopefully your employer will pay for any medical and out of pocket expenses you incurred. Out of pocket expenses can include such things as bandages, medicine, and similar items related to the treatment of your cut.
