I broke my arm from an injury outside of work. I went back to work only to find my hours were significantly cut. They just hired on a new employee and said I am “extra” and they will try to work me onto the schedule when they can.
Obviously I’m not on workers compensation or disability. I am currently actively seeking a new entry level position where my broken arm will not be an issue, however, this is proving to be more than difficult. Any help or information you could give would be greatly appreciated as to what I should do. Can I do anything about my job? Again THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

There is little, if anything you can do about losing your work hours. In this economy finding a job is difficult enough with two arms. Having an arm in a cast is definitely a handicap.
You might apply to the “Help Wanted” ads. When you do try and speak with the manager or owner. Be honest with them about your injury. Tell them you will be ready and able to work within a day or so after your cast is removed. Often, honesty is the best policy.
If you have access to the Internet you might consider logging into one of the employment company sites: Career Builder, Snelling, Monster, and Craig’s List are some of the largest and best known.
Depending on your age and circumstances you might even consider starting your own business. Think about your talents and what you think you might like to do. These days you would be surprised at the many opportunities available online. Many of these opportunities can be launched directly from your home.
