I was in a minor car accident where I bumped another vehicle while backing out of a parking spot.
I was traveling at 2mph and bumped the vehicle on the driver’s front side.
The passenger in the other vehicle (not the driver) is now claiming injury and has filed a claim with my insurance company.
There was no physical damage to the car I hit and my car only has a small scratch on the bumper.
I feel like I am being scammed here. Can one truly sustain injury from this type of accident? How can I make sure I’m not being taken advantage of? Thanks.

You probably don’t have anything to worry about. Just because the passenger filed a claim doesn’t mean it will be paid. Your insurance company isn’t in the business of giving away their money for bogus claims. These things happen all the time. From the facts you present it is extremely unlikely the passenger could have suffered any injury.
It’s a sad state of affairs in this country when so many people file insurance claims for the most benign of “accidents”.
Just turn the matter over to your insurance company. Tell them exactly what happened. You can let them know your frustration as well. Make sure the adjuster assigned to the claim (if the claim even gets that far) knows exactly what happened.
Take photographs of the area of your car which came in contact with the other vehicle. Remember to write down anything you can remember about the accident, especially any statements made by the other driver or her passenger.
If there were any witnesses, give the adjuster that information as well. Your insurance company’s claims adjuster will appreciate your help.
