How can I find out the name of local salon owner’s insurance company?
She refuses to give it to me so that I can file a claim for my medical, pharmacy and out of pocket travel-related expenses.
I have a severely infected finger from a manicure. I was diagnosed by dermatologist as acute paronychia, requiring 3 doctor visits, surgery (incision and drainage), and two weeks of antibiotics.
The salon owner apologized and took responsibility for her employee, but doesn’t want to pay my medical costs and refuses to give me her insurance information.
What can I do?

It can be frustrating when those who cause injuries refuse to cooperate. Unfortunately, there aren’t any laws in New York which require a privately owned business to volunteer insurance coverage and contact information.
In your case, to obtain the insurance information will require you to file a lawsuit. Once a lawsuit is filed, the owner can be subpoenaed to a deposition where he can be required to give his insurance information. That can also be accomplished through a set of interrogatories.
You can either file a small claims lawsuit and go through the subpoena process yourself, or retain a personal injury attorney to assist you. Under the facts you present, your claim seems to be serious enough to require an attorney.
Most personal injury attorneys will not charge you for an initial office consultation. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by visiting with several. They will give you a good idea of how much they may be able to settle your claim for.
