I was injured on the job. I reported it to my employer. They have been paying all of the medical expenses and for my medications, but I have not received a check since the injury.
My attorney said the settlement will be higher if I don’t get a check but I need a check to live on until the case is settled. What is going on with this check? Thanks if you can shed some light on this.
Disclaimer: Our response is not formal legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship. It is generic legal information based on the very limited information provided. Do not rely upon the information in our response, or anywhere else on this site, when deciding the proper course of a legal matter. Always get a personalized case review from a local attorney.
It is our policy never to interfere with an attorney client relationship. By that we mean you are already represented by an attorney and as a result we will not interfere with the advice and counsel she is rendering to you.
The first advice we will give you is to listen to your attorney’s advice. Although we at Injury-Settlement-Guide.com have a very knowledgeable legal staff, nothing is better than having access to all the records, all the correspondence and other matters directly related to your case.
Only your attorney has that information.
We strongly urge you to sit with your attorney and attempt to come to a better understanding about the direction of the case.
If you are unable to receive satisfaction from your meeting with your attorney you can always consider terminating her services. Doing so, especially in the middle of a case, would be foolhardy.
You should remember that your attorney doesn’t receive any of her fees until such time as she either settles or wins the case at trial. That is built-in incentive for her to work as hard as she can on every one of her cases.
